	   Establishing a Corporate Quality Center of Excellence
	   Anita Carlos
	   
	  	Ms Carlos graduated from the Texas A&M in Mathematics with Graduate Studies from Troy State University and the University of Nebraska.   She has received numerous awards and accolades from SAIC and various customers throughout the Department of Defense. She is a Certified Quality Analyst (renamed Certified Software Quality Analyst) from the Quality Assurance Institute and also a member of the ASQ.
		Ms Carlos has over twenty-five years work experience in systems/software engineering, program management and Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Management, Configuration Management, earned value project management, performance-based acquisitions, performance measurements, and process improvement, and metrics analysis and collection.
		Ms. Carlos is currently responsible for maintaining, and implementing the Quality Assurance, Configuration Management, and Process Improvement Programs for the Analysis, Simulations, Systems Engineering, and Training (ASSET) Business Unit in SAIC which has 2,200 employees.  Ms  Carlos directs, manages and assists 42 Quality Assurance, Configuration Management, and Process Improvement personnel.  All of her personnel are ASQ and NDIA –certified and currently are working on Process Improvement certifications. She chairs her Business Unit Process and Technology Steering Committee and participates on the SAIC Defense Solutions Group and Corporate Systems and Software Process Groups and was responsible for establishing and currently maintains the SAIC Quality Center of Excellence.
	   Establishing a Corporate Quality Center of Excellence
	   
	  	The Quality Center of Excellence (Q CoE) is the SAIC official virtual resource command center for quality assurance and quality control with an established charter, mission, and goals.  The QCoE provides the SAIC community at large a conduit to link all the QA staffs across the company in a forum to share practices and supporting each other in establishing good QA throughout the company to include:
		Supporting any program’s quality needs for compliance to standards such as CMMI, ISO9000, AS9100, etc.
		Serve as a resource of information to project managers and proposal teams.
		Provide teams that can be deployed to assist with assessments and proposals.
		Provide career planning for employees interested in the field of quality.
