Speaker Background:

Mr. Bryan Ward is the Director of the Cloud Computing at Serco North America. He has over 30 years experience as a technology innovator, solutions architect, and business developer. Mr. Ward’s deep technical knowledge and broad operational experience have been the key to successful delivery of solutions that are both tactically successful and strategically viable.

As technology thought leader, Mr. Ward served as a Deputy Commissioner on TechAmerica Foundation’s CLOUD2 commission, initiated by Vivek Kundra to identify ways Government leadership can accelerate adoption of Cloud Computing. Mr. Ward was instrumental in adding commission report recommendations for savings re-investment and for proper management of human capitol impacts.

Mr. Ward has also served as a co-chair of the TechAmerica FedRAMP working group, within the TechAmerica Cloud Computing committee, and has helped draft industry comments on FISMA security guidelines (800.53) changes to support Cloud Computing.

He is currently active in NIST Cloud technology working groups chartered with defining standards to help Government leaders identify Cloud benefits and select optimal solutions. Mr. Ward has been quoted as a subject matter expert in Defense Systems Magazine, National Guard Today, Scientific Computing, and Federal Computer Week.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ward has forged technology roadmaps for corporate divisions, was principle in dozens of capture/proposal efforts, and has successfully architected dozens of mission-critical IT systems. More recently, he has built a highly-scalable Cloud-based Career management solution, a sensor-based alert/response system, and several enterprise-level command and control systems.

Mr. Ward is accomplished at establishing strategic direction and driving tactical opportunities toward strategic goals. He is equally adept at developing custom capabilities, integrating existing technologies, or assimilating emerging technologies. Mr. Ward has provided systems and expert consulting to U.S. department of Energy, Department of State, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and Department of Labor.

Prior to Serco, Mr. Ward spent 11 years operating his own consulting company supporting the telecommunications and defense industries. His clients included MCI, CSC, Open System Sciences, and Lynch & Associates. Mr. Ward started his career at McDonald Douglas building communications and intelligence systems for the Army and Defense Intelligence Agency.

Mr. Ward has conducted advanced technology research in the areas of ubiquitous sensor management, artificial intelligence, and enterprise data management. He is published in Neural Network and AFCEA trade publications and has spoken at industry events such as AFCEA Federal Database Colloquium
